15355 Radio Transmundial
Bonaire (Netherland Antilles)
Recording by Daniel Camporini (Argentina)

On this recording you hear at the beginning the voice of Daniel Camporini closing down his DX program "Monitor DX" transmitted over Radio Transmundial, Bonaire. Nowadays Daniel isn´t working with peoducing DX programs but has over the years made programs on: Radio Armonía (1600 Khz.) de Caseros, LR1 Radio El Mundo de Buenos Aires, LR3 Radio Belgrano (950 Khz.), LR4 Radio Splendid (990 Khz.), LR2 Radio Argentina (1110 Khz.) and FM Casablabca (88.3 Mhz.). Thanks Daniel!

GUEST CLIP

15355 Radio Transmundial
Bonaire (Netherland Antilles)
One of the last ID´s from this station on shortwave, just a few weeks later they left SW.
Recording by Daniel Camporini (Argentina)

Daniel Camporini:
"Hola Bjorn! Un fuerte abrazo y por tu intermedio a todos los amigos diexistas. Estaba digitalizando mis grabaciones y encontre algunas de mi programa "Monitor DX" que se emitia desde Bonaire, Antillas Holandesas por Radio Transmundial. Te envio aqui el cierre del programa (era tambien el cierre de la emisión) y una de las ultimas identificaciones de la emisora en la onda corta, ya que pocas semanas después salio definitivamente del aire. Cordiales 73's Danny".

QTH Info:
Bonaire is an island in the Netherlands Antilles. It is 50 miles north of the coast of Venezuela, South America. Bonaire has two islands: Bonaire and Klein Bonaire. Bonaire is a small coral island, only 20 miles long and 3-7 miles wide. Located at the south side of the Caribbean Sea, Bonaire is located in an upwelling of the Atlantic Ocean. Cool, nutrient-rich ocean water rises from the deep to the surface near Bonaire. This water is rich with plankton and other nutrients, making the reefs near Bonaire some of the most spectacular in the world. This water also is cool. Cool water from the ocean's depths reduces rainfall, making Bonaire a dry, desert island. The capital city of Bonaire is Kralendijk

......some more about
"LV del Rondero Valiente" and Radio Marañon, Jaén

Thanks Henrik, the same day I presented this recording (see 29/10 2005) I sent an e-mail to Radio Marañon and the Sub Director/Marketing Mr. Homero Marin asking him about their program for "Los Ronderos". Some days ago I I heard Radio Marañon talking about Radio Comercial Huancabamba "LV del Rondero", in very in negative terms, saying that a "Ronda" is aimed for meeting the high crime level NOT for starting a radio station (refering to "new" Radio Comercial 6536 kHz (see 26/10 2005).

73s Bjorn Malm

FEEDBACK:

Henrik Klemetz, Sweden:
On Panamericana TV, Francisco Muguiro Ibarra, a Spanish Catholic priest and the manager of Radio Marañón, has been accused of participating in a "terrorist group" in the Jaén area. The news item originally came from a local magazine in Jaén, "El Paisa" and the background seems to be a mining dispute. By way of their parent organization, CNR, 60 community broadcasters all over the country, as well as local organizations such as the Rondas Campesinas, have rallied in support of Padre Muguiro rejecting the accusations and calling them unfounded and slanderous. This is part of the background of the slogan Björn has been hearing, "La Voz del Rondero Valiente", The Voice of the Valiant Sentinel. More info can be found at

Saturday edition:

4835.459 Radio Marañon "LV del Rondero Valiente"
Jaén (Perú)

Go out hunting!!

 4835.459 kHz

It´s a great pleasure to present Radio Marañon. 10-12 days ago I heard the DJ saying that they now have fixed some tranmitter "problems". The signal has been very low modulated a very long time, the last months with just carrier without any audio. Now the station is coming in here in Quito with good signal and sound quality.

Radio Marañon has now almost the same slogan as new Radio Comercial Huancabamba ("LV del Rondero") but, as I understand it, just when they have programs aimed for "Rondas" and "Ronderos" (read about "Ronderos", see 26/10 2005).

I made two recordings this saturday morning, one with the perfect ID, when Marañon started their transmissions 0955 UTC in the morning, and the second recording with "LV del Rondero Valiente" ID and wonderful Perúvian music.

......some more about 6536.02 "La Voz del Rondero"

FEEDBACK:

I asked: what is the meaning of "Rondero"? Henrik Klemetz, among other things spanish teacher, has the answer. I of course asked my Ecuadorian wife but she didn´t knew. As Henrik says it´s something used in northern Perú.

73s Bjorn Malm

Henrik:
"And so, "rondero" is one of the members of a "ronda", a group of local sentinels trying to avoid theft of cattle, and crimes in general, a kind of civil defence in northern Peru. Reportedly, the first "ronda campesina" dates 25 years back, in Chota, Cajamarca. Radio La Voz de San Antoniom, 6628 and 5646, was one of the first stations owned by rondas campesinas Visit this web site:".

6536.02 Radio Comercial Huancabamba "La Voz del Rondero"

 6536.02 kHz

New station, at least new owner and new name. What does the name "Rondero" means, or am I hearing wrong? As you can hear on this recording the name of the owner still is a secret. Is "Señor Rondero" the owner of the Super Market "Centro Comercial" where the interview was coming from?

unID 5949.717 is now solved by "DX SpaceMaster", as you know his real name is Alfredo Canote from Perú, and Arnaldo Slaen (Argentina). Thanks to both of you for your help!

Just to let you know how the station sounded a few days ago you can click on this link. Now you know what I ment with "hard" preaching.

FEEDBACK:

Alfredo Canote (Perú):

5949.717 unID LA (no audioclip )
+ feedback from Kenji Takasaki (Japan) and Alfredo Canote (Perú)

 4955.00 kHz

Can it be anything else but R.Cultural Amauta, Huanta (Perú)? But I´m wondering because the program format is totally different to, as I know it, the normal format of Cultural Amauta: religious and cultural programs. Telephone and e-mail adress mentioned when the station was closing down 0200 UTC: 32 21 53 and rescatehoy@hotmail.com - I´m not 100% sure if it is "rescatehoy".

(.tmp recording, will be removed)

The same evening as I heard the unID LA on 4955.00 I noted another unID LA station on 5949.717 kHz, My guess is a reactivation of Radio Bethel, Arequipa (Perú). The same type of religious program with "hard" preaching as when I logged the station the last time some years ago.

I have received comments from Kenji Takasaki (Japan) and Alfredo "SpaceMaster" Canote (Perú). Thank you very much!

73s Bjorn Malm

FEEDBACK:

Kenji Takasaki (Japan):
"Hi, Mr.Malm! Yes, I confirmed R.Bethel-5949.8kHz on 1st Sep 2005. In Japan, this station is hardly not heard recently because of bad condx. I could hrd some folklore until 1100UTC then started religious, preaching px with opening ann by OM. 73 FB DXing!".

Alfredo "SpaceMaster" Canote (Perú):
"Hola Bjorn! Acabo de hablar con Milton Melgarejo de la Radio y me explicó que la señal la "bajan" en Arequipa y retransmiten lo de Lima via los 5949.717 Khz asi que te tendré mas datos en cualquier momento... 73".

1340.000 HJ__ Fiesta 13-40 AM
Bogotá (Colombia)

 1340.000 kHz

unID "Fiesta, 13-40 AM" has been heard a couple of times in Kongsfjord (KONG DX-pedition web site), Norway by Bjarne Mjelde during October (reported in >RealDX Mailinglist) and I have spent some days checking out 1340 kHz. First day I just noted "Fiesta 13-40 AM" IDs and "Música Tropical" without any QTH indication but next day I finally got the ID with QTH "on tape" (I´m using a Sharp Digital MD Recorder). It turned out to be QTH in Bogotá, Colombia meaning that listed HJFB Radio Uno, SF de Bogotá (my recording from april 2004) has a new name. There are some question marks, read the comments from Henrik Klemetz.

Thanks to both Bjarne and Henrik for being involved in this interesting "problem".

1340.000 HJ__ Fiesta 13-40 AM
Bogotá (Colombia). 10/2005.

Henrik Klemetz, Sweden: "Björn´s last clip indeed says "Bogotá", and the ID is in the usual RCN vein. This is "the hard proof" just as Björn would say. So what is going on here? The RCN website says Radio Uno just as before, but the ID you hear on their audio stream is different from the one Björn provided.

I believe this is what happened: As mentioned in the news, Cadena Super sold their Superestación 88.9 to RCN, and so the new ID on 88.9 says "La Superestación es Radio Uno (parrandero de verdad)". 1340, which does not relay 88.9, changed their name (albeit not format) to Fiesta 13-40. 1340 programming is not carried online. Perhaps Radio Uno 88.9 now goes out from the ex Superestación studios on Calle 86, while RCN HQ with half a dozen stations remains on Calle 37. So thanks, Björn, for providing the evidence".

600.00 La Nueva Radio Ya
Manágua (Nicaragua)

 600.00 kHz

The channel 600 kHz is normally impossible because of the 24h station Radio Caravana Satélite 610 kHz, Quito but this sunday morning they were off air. I was curious to know what´s hidden on the frequency and was very lucky to hear my second Nicaraguan station. I also had trace of a Cuban station and Radio Libertad, Barranquilla was there with ID.

One of my first stations presented on this ID page was 540.18 Radio Corporación, Managua(Nicaragua) in march 2004. A thypical sunrise logging, Quito sunrise at 10:55 UTC (Manágua sunrise at 11:36 UTC)

QTH info:
Manágua, with a population of about 1,817,096.2 in 2004, is the capital of Nicaragua and 2nd largest city in Central America. Situated on the southern shore of Lake Managua, at 12°9? N 86°16? W, the city was made the national capital in 1855; previously the capital had alternated between the cities of León and Granada. Managua is overwhelmingly populated by Spanish-speaking Mestizos. There are also Syrian, Palestinian, and Armenian communities and other Middle Easterners as well. Asians — entirely Japanese and Chinese (both mainlanders and Taiwanese) — are also a thriving economic force; they are responsible for many of the hotels and new centers of the "New Managua," they are heavily dedicated to entrepreneurial activity.

Managua was damaged by earthquake and fire on March 31, 1931 and by fire again in 1936. On December 23, 1972, the city was very severely damaged in an earthquake that took more than 10,000 lives. In the aftermath, when international help came in to rebuild the town, the dictator Somoza and his troops allegedly took the donations and either hid them from the public or used the donations for themselves. As a result, the downtown area, devastated by the earthquake, was never rebuilt, and it remains half-empty even today. Those actions were a contributing factor to the Sandinistas' takeover of Nicaragua in 1979.

Managua is considered very confusing for visitors, because it has no street names or addresses. After the 1972 earthquake the city regrew organically and street signs were generally not replaced. Directions are always given relative to landmarks, but landmarks are often used which no longer exist. (Wikpedia)

6536.03 Radio Difusora "La Poderosa" de Huancabamba
Huancabamba (Perú)

 6536.03 kHz

"La Poderosa" is still going strong!
Up to 1905 (0005 UTC) transmission in // with Radio La Voz de las Huarinjas on 6819 kHz with both stations mentioned in the ID. Two days ago wednesday the Peruvian police raided and shut down 3-4 radio stations in Huancabamba among them "La Poderosa" 6536 kHz ("Noticias DX" via "Conexión Digital").

But both stations are active this friday evening. I got the impression that La Poderosa is on air with help of (??) some "Curanderos" in Huancabamba. The "sound picture" was different so perhaps the station is using another equipment.

So here is a recording made just 45 minutes ago.

Radio Union, Lima 6114.86 kHz has been very, very weak a long period here in Quito but I have noted the last weeks a much stronger signal than before. Some kind of transmitter problems? Listen to nice Perúvian music and Radio Unión-IDs.

I have also received information from Hector Alvaro Gutierrez, Lima (Perú) regarding my unID Perúvian station on 1440 kHz (see 2/10 2005). Thank you very much for your information Hector, you are welcome to send more! Hector says in his mail that my unID Perú on 1440 kHz is Radio Imperial, Lima located in the district of "Villa el Salvador". Hector says that at the end you cn hear ID "Radio Imperial 2 ".

"Radio Campesina on 840 kHz is in Ayabaca. I also visited the station during my stay in Ayabaca, Departamento de Piura. Both stations belong to the same rural broadcasting organization of Radio Campesina There are several Radio Campesina in Peru, but I do not have the complete list".

.....more about Radio Santa Ana 4965.82

To talk by phone Ecuador-Perú I pay, using my computer and "Dialpad", 9 cents/minute so I have saved at least 1-2 dollars because Henruk Klemetz has already talked to Radio Santa Ana (phone number is on my recording) and got this information:

Henrik Klemetz:
"On Oct 15, at 1240 UTC, I phoned Radio Santa Ana and was immediately invited to go on the air live to greet the local listeners. In the process I learnt that their address is Av. San Martín 636, Santa Ana, Provincia La Convención, Cusco, Peru. They do not have any email. Santa Ana is way outside of Cusco, in the same province as Quillabamba. The address listed for the station on the official website of the Peruvian government is different from the one they gave me on the phone. One of the announcements on Björn´s clip - the one subsequent to the ad for a motor car service station - says "Radio Santa Ana y Nacional, FM 93.3, la señal digital fácil de escuchar".

Henrik Has also a comment regarding one of my earlier recordings :

Henrik:
"Björn: The Radio Nacional promo says: "Nacional se renueva.

Thursday 2nd edition:

I have talked by telephone to Radio Santa Monica, Cusco:

The telephone number to Radio Santa Monica, Cusco (+51 84) 225160 ls not correct. I just talked to the owner of this telephone, a very nice woman. She gave me the new number: (+51 84) 225357. I sked her if she know something about Radio Santa Monica. She said Santa Monica is transmitting as normal with the same name "Radio Santa Monica" on MW and FM but said she does not know anyhing about the shortwave frequency. She said also that Radio Nacional del Perú is not transmitting from Cusco.

EXACTLY
the same informtion had a woman working at Radio Santa Monica when I talked to the station using their new telephone number. She does not know anything about Santa Monica relaying Radio Nacional del Perú.

I´m wondering if the station on 4965.82 really is a part of Radio Santa Monica MW/FM or some kind of a pirate station? A very strange story, but I will go on listening to this unID "Radio Nacional del Perú" on 4965.82 kHz.

"Radio Nacional del Perú"

I listened more than one hour this tuesday morning and you can listen to the most interesting parts on this long audioclip, so be patient when downloading 295 kilobyte. Thrilling if it´s really Radio Nacional del Perú returning to shortwave.

I have not noted any "Santa Mónica" but many "Nacional" and many "Cusco" so of course I have beem trying to hear the two words "Nacional" and "Cusco" together. The most important of the 6 small clips is the first one: At second "9" I think there is a "....en Nacional Cusco...." + much more interesting parts for example second "37" but I leave this to your opninion.............

Daniel Camporini, Argentina:

He has a theory about the stations name "Bella" meaning that the exact QTH perhaps is a small place called "Bella Durmiente" located very close to "Tingo María". "Radio Tingo María"has been inactive for a very, very long time, their ID and slogan was: Radio Tingo Maria "desde la ciudad de la Bella Durmiente". Thank you very much Dario! Your theory sounds very good to me.

First some information I found about the small town "Tingo María". 73s Bjorn Malm

Tingo María:
"The road from Huánuco descends into beautiful high jungle before arriving in Tingo María, 120km away on a good paved road. The town is small and rather ugly, although there is a pleasant promenade along Alameda Peru in the centre, and the surrounding hills are beautiful. These include the Bella Durmiente (the sleeping beauty), several hills which form the shape of a young woman, asleep. The town is at 660m above sea level and has a very hot and humid climate.

Av. Raymondi is the main commercial street. The Plaza de Armas is in the middle of Alameda Peru, a pleasant boulevard".

Dario Monferini (Italy):

Voy a ver si mañana puedo llegar temprano a casa y puedo captarla. 73".

The best chance you have to hear Quito on mediumwave is to go out hunting 1510 kHz Radio Monumental, has been logged many times in the Scandinavian countries. They have the last months been on 1510.00 but is now back to the split 1510.401 kHz, a little bit higher than before.

Another Quito station is really on a mwoffset frequency: Radio Sensación. This station is sometimes on nom. 800.00 kHz and sometimes on 804.901 kHz where they are for the moment. Transmitterproblems, the sound is a little bit distorted.

This time the photo here below shows what I see(west) from my radio shack window here in Quito . On the other side of our house (east) is the international airport "Mariscal Sucre" located.

 4965.829 kHz

The DJ says that Radio Nacional from monday 26th has "nuevos programas, nuevos horarios....." - new programs, new transmitting schedule. He also says that Radio Nacional has 39 stations relaying their program.

So what I´m wondering is: Is this really Radio Nacional del Perú, Lima (this ID at second 35) or another station with relay of Radio Nacional.

"Radio Santa Mónica" 4965 kHz has been off air quite a long time, they were lose to nom. frequency 4965 and with low sound quality so it does not sounds like a reactivation of Santa Mónica. I can not find any clues in Klemetz "Perú List" or Mohrmans "LA List". I listened this monday morning to a news program around local sunrise here in Quito and the signal was fading away.

The most thrilling part of the mediumwave band is, if you are interested in Perú DX, the channels around 1390 - 1460 kHz. I have a lot of recordings from this area not presented on this ID site. Many weak signals, mny of them are drifting etc. Thrilling because many of them are not listd in WRTH.

The recording I made this sunday morning can be listed "Radio Imperial" Lima but I´m just guessing. The DJ is talking about the celebration of "San Miguel Arcángel," and is also mentioning "San Juan de Miraflores". There is a very weak ID at second "43".

"6895.412 is a slightly different frequency on which Radio Sensación and Radio San Miguel de El Faique (my recording from 2004 but ID is "Radio La Voz de San Miguel" /Bjorn) have been operating, but as time has shown, in Peru stations are switching from one frequency to another. There is an internet record from a local Peruvian source (Defensoría del Pueblo) about Radio La Voz del Campesino in Huarmaca so this must be the one. Moyobamba:
Moyobamba is a city in North Peru. It is located in the eponymous district of Moyobamba Province in the San Martín Region, of which it is the capital. There are about 50 thousand inhabitants. Some 3,500 species of orchid are native to the area, which has led to the city's nickname of The City of Orchids.

Home to the San Juan Festival, "Moyobambinos" celebrate the region's patron saint every June. Locals celebrate with traditional dances and dishes, most notably Juane, a dish that is meant to resemble the head of John the Baptist on a platter BRfore Herod. It is made by stuffing a ball of sticky green rice with chicken and wrapping it in Bijao leaves for cooking. Then, celebrants dance the "Pandilla" around wooden poles dug into the ground BRfore chopping them down with an axe and collecting the treasures from the top.

Moyobamba is one of the major trading centers for the Aguaruna Native Communities, which inhabit the surrounding valley known as the Upper Mayo River Valley. The major cash crops grown in the region are rice, coffee and corn. The historic "Punto de Tahuishco" was once a vibrant port along the Mayo River, but has since BRcome one of the last waning vestiges of the river trade route.

After the slow demise of its airport, this regional capital BRgan to fall BRhind the faster-developing Tarapoto, a neighboring city further up-river. Farmers and regional government workers often clash in a geopolitical battle over local control and access to outside markets.

1590 kHz has been a very interesting frequency for me the last months, 43 days of pleasure trying to identify 1590.43 Radio Kollasuyo Marka, Tiawanaku (Bolivia) and during this period I of course logged some more stations. One of them is 1590.00 Radio Huaynarroque, Juliaca (Perú). I had the station as unID some weeks with "naturista" programs from Juliaca. The station is logged both in Finland (Jan Erik Osterholm and Martti Karimies 2005) and in Sweden (Björn Olsson 2004) and was identified with help from Henrik Klemetz (Sweden). Fine signal but the ID is (as usual....) with lower quality.

Other stations I logged when I was trying to identify the Bolivian station on 1590.43 kHz are:

1589.9v Radio Reloj, México City (México)
A "strange" station, was heard sometimes together with Perú/Bolivia and sometimes together wirh an USA station. Is drifting a little bit some Hz under nom. frequency. Easy to recognize with "Ku-Ku" TC´s every minute.

1590.00 Radio Deporte 15-90, Caracas (Venezuela)
Just a short ID deep under other stations on the frequency. Venezuela is difficult here in Quito.

1590.vv Radio Agricultura, Lima (Perú)
This station is drifting, I have noted them on at least three different splits.

1590.01 Radio Mensaje, Tabacundo (Ecuador)
Of course the dominating station but has close down quite early and is off early saturday/sunday mornings. The recording is one of my favorites because of the wonderful Ecuadorian music from Mayrita Vaca and the very nice and amusing timecheck - (I promise, you will be smiling!).

1590.38 Agro Radio, Trujillo (Perú)
Is not listed in WRTH 2004 but both Jan Erik Osterholm and Henrik Klemetz said "....it´s Agro Radio, of course!". Thanks!

1590.43 Radio Kollasuyo Marka, Tiawanaku (Bolivia)
As I said, 43 days of pleasure identifying this station.

I had unID stations from Brazil and Cuba but very weak signals. .I did not noted any trace of these three stations, I have logged all three before, and I´m wondering why. Off air?

QTH Info:
"Juliaca is a city in the Puno Region, Peru. It is the region's second-largest city . Juliaca is on the Altiplano, 3824 meters above sea level. It is located in the Collao Plateau and close to Lake Titicaca.

Juliaca is the largest city in the department of Puno and capital of the San Román province, and is the major commercial centre in the southern highlands. However, it is also very unattractive, and competes with Chimbote on the northern coast for the title of most unpleasant city in Peru. Most of the buildings in the city are very ugly and appear to still be under construction, and the bitter cold winds make being out at night almost unbearable. Very few travellers do any more than pass through here, and that is generally a very wise choice. However, it is occasionally necessary to enter the city for transport connections (the airport for Puno is here, for example, although even when taking a flight there is no need to enter the city), and visiting some of the highland towns is only possible via Juliaca.

There are no real attractions in Juliaca itself, although the colonial church on the Plaza de Armas is of minor interest. There are a couple of markets selling alpaca goods more cheaply than in Puno, including a market on Plaza Bolognesi.

Unlike most Peruvian cities, the Plaza de Armas is not the main centre of the city, even though the main church and the town hall are here. Most restaurants, hotels and banks are located around Plaza Bolognesi, where the train station is. Jr. San Román and Jr. Nuñez, off the Plaza Bolognesi, are the main streets".

Nowadays, Ibarra is a market town popular with tourists. It is blessed with fine weather, colonial white-washed houses (giving it the nickname The White City) and cobbled streets. The Santa Domingo church houses a museum holding paintings.

Markets are on Saturdays, and the main festival is the Fiesta de los Lagos held on the last weekend of September. Also, two colourful parades known as El Pregón and Virgen del Carmen are held on July 16 every year.Ibarra (population of 80,477 in 1990) is a town in northern Ecuador and the capital of the Imbabura province. It lies at the foot of the Imbabura volcano and on the left bank of the Tahuando river. It is about 45 miles northeast of Ecuador's capital Quito". (Wikpedia)

Hi Bjorn! This is what I´m hearing on your recording:
"2": "4.780 kHz en la banda de 60 metros
"11": "Provincia de Iturralde , Departamento del Beni
"15": "llega al final de esta edición radial"

......and then some mixed words that makes me beleive it´s Radio Tacana transmitting from Tumupasa, Provincia de Iturralde. Paz y Dx!

Henrik Klemetz, Sweden:
Malm´s unid on 4781.35 is Radio Tacana, Tumupasa, provincia de Iturralde, departamento de La Paz, Bolivia. So please discard my previous info. My apologies. The s/off theme is Ballade pour Adeline, played by Richard Clayderman on the piano.

I am using a new headset, that´s why. When listening to a clip from Tore B Vik on an unid heard by him on 4781.3 in Aug 2003, I thought that was Radio Coatán. But now, when listening to this old clip with a new headset I realize that I was wrong. The main difference between the two headsets is that the old one has a tinny sound, whereas the new one is more bassy.

..........some more about my unID LA on 4781.35 kHz:

FEEDBACK:
0530 UTC
Christer Brunstrom, Sweden:
Hi Bjorn, I have listened to your recording. The DJ is mentioning the frequency 4780, then both province and department so perhaps Perú. A name ending with ".....pamoa" is mentioned. Very interesting! (my translation from Swedish /Bjorn)

0455 UTC
Henrik Klemetz, Sweden:
This unid is Radio Coatán in Guatemala. The station is listed as Radio Cultural Coatán, but the ID is usually only Radio Coatán.

Also Glenn Hauser has seen a logging of Radio Oriental (Ecuador) close in frequency on 4781.26 kHz. I do not recognize Oriental, a station located in the province of "Napo" (listen to second 10 "Provincia de....."). ID(?) at second "28".

Glenn Hauser, USA:
About all I could make out was ``al servicio de la comunidad`` and ``radiodifusión`` but what you heard matches rather closely this entry in LA-DX current log:

4781.26 ECUADOR * R Oriental, Tena [0808-1210/2218-0302*](4779.5-87.8) Dec 04 C (r)HCJB 0210* (n)4780

Thanks Christer, Glenn and Henrik! I have before always had Coatán on 4779.98 kHz. 73s Bjorn

You are very welcome to listen to this recording of an unID LA station on 4781.35 kHz. I just finished listening to their close down ceremony 0212 UTC. I do not remember hearing LA around this frequency, apart from Ecuador, before. I want you to participate!

I have seen a logging from 2003 of 4781.35: R Oriental, Ecuador but is it really Oriental with transmitter problems?

Hi Bjorn, I´m sending you a very nice studio recording Radio Unidad sent together with QSL. I logged the station 15/1 2001 in Lemmenjoki, Finland. Interesting to hear how difficult it is to read my name! "Rafael Calzada" is located in the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). (my translation from swedish /Bjorn)

Thanks Jan-Erik for this amusing recording! Both recording and photo have a larger size than I normally use so please wait some seconds extra downloading.

*** Glenn Hauser, USA
*** Hans Johnsson, USA
*** Takayuki Inoue, Japan

FEEDBACK:
2/9 2005 I had a recording of unID spanish speaking on 5745.75 kHz and I asked if it really is "Radio Virgen de Remedios", Tupiza (Bolivia) - has been reported on this frequency. Today I received a mail from Christer Brunstrom (Sweden) saying that it is not Radio Virgen de Remedios but WWRB (USA). I have earlier also received feedback on this topic on the mailing lists from Glenn Hauser (USA) and Hans Johnsson (USA). You can read the full versions of their mails on the mailinglists, both are suggesting Radio Virgen de Remedios with relay of an USA station.

Christer Brunstrom, Sweden:
(my unID spanish speaking on 5745.75 kHz)

"Hi Bjorn, I heard a weak signal with religious program on 5745.xx kHz and I was listening more than 30 minutes, I was very interested to know if this was Radio Virgen that has been reported on the frequency. But it turned out to be WWRB with spanish program. I remember the station being on a split frequency above 5745 kHz. Program title was "La palabra de vida" and was transmitted beetwen 2330 - 0002 interrupted with ID for WWRB in english".

Hans Johnsson, USA:
(my unID spanish speaking on 5745.75 kHz)

"Hi, I seem to recall hearing it // to some of WEWN's shortwavehannels, although there is a bit of delay between the two. I found the Bolivian to be quite strong, I thought it was actually a WEWN spur at first.

You can go to their website of www.ewtn.com/spanish/index.asp which has feeds of both radio and tv, this would let you know exactly which service the Bolivian station is relaying".

Glenn Hauser:
(my unID spanish speaking on 5745.75 kHz)

"Well, sounds weak enough to me to be Bolivia. Why don`t you see if it matches WEWN audio or if there is a satellite delay. WEWN Spanish frequencies at 0000-0500 are 7425, 13615. Here is FCC A-05 showing that WEWN itself uses 5745, but only in the mornings; at 0000, WWRB would be on there, but beamed NNW; I haven`t noticed if they are off frequency".

Takayuki Inoue (Japan) has sent me comments regarding my unID Perú on 1600.44 kHz (see 28/8 2005) and my recording of 1590.432 Radio Kollasuyo Marka (dee 3/9 2005). Takayuki ends his mail with these lines:

"From 10/SEP/2005 to 1/OCT/2005 I will visit Cuba in order to investigate some local broadcasters in several provinces. Naturally I will visit Radio Habana Cuba. Best regard".

Takayuki Inoue, Japan:
(1590.432 Radio Kollasuyo Marka)

"Regarding to Radio Kollasuyo Marka, the station is officially assigned on the frequency of 1580kHz. The address is Zona Tejada Triangular Calle C # 57 El Alto, Tiawanaku, Departamento de La Paz, Bolivia".

Takayuki Inoue, Japan:
(my unID Perú on 1600.44 kHz)

"Regarding to La Internacional on 1600.9 kHz, it may be Radio Internacional del Peru in San Pablo, Departamento de Cajamarca. I visited the station some years ago and only opereted on that mediumwave frequency. Its slogan is La Internacional. The SW outlet, was in fact in Lima, whcih formerly operated on 3395 kHz. The both stations were operated and managed by the same owner.".

Thank you very much Christer, Glenn, Hans and Takayuki for your information! 73s Bjorn Malm

*** Saturday edition:
*** Recording of 1590.432 Radio Kollasuyo Marka
*** Tiawanaku, Dpto La Paz (Bolivia)

 1590.432 kHz
After 43 days of hard "work" (read pleasure) listening to a very, very weak signal I this saturday morning got the ID: Radio Kollasuyo Marka

I do not have WRTH 2005 but in WRTH 2004 the station is noted as "CP" (Construction Permit) so I do not think the station has been on air very long. I first noted the signal 22/7 2005. Thanks to all of you that have been listening to my earlier recordings (Henrik was the one that first said it was Bolivia): Daniel Camporini (Argentina), Henrik Klemetz (Sweden) and Valter Comuzzi (Italy).

Second 12: "Está en sintonía de Radio Kollasuyo Marka......transmite en 1590(1580?) kHz....". -80 or -90, I´m not sure.

Second 24: A clearer ID by OM "Radio Kollasuyo Marka".

QTH Info:
"Tiawanaku is located in the department of La Paz. The Tiwanaku were settled by 400 B.C. on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. The main center developed into a bustling city, constructed with many terraced platform pyramids, courts and urban centers dispersed over 2.31 sq. miles. Today, a small village of Aymara Indians resides in the area close to many of the prehistoric Tiwanaku ruins".

*** Friday edition:
*** Recording of 5745.75 unID "EWTN Radio Católica Mundial"

 5745.75 kHz
This station has been reported as "Radio Virgen de Remedios, Tupiza" (Bolivia). To me it´s a little bit difficult to beleive this really is Bolivia. Good but distorted signal and nothing else from Bolivia on the SW bands. I understand that "Radio Virgen de Remedios" is relaying programs from "Radio Católica Mundial" but as you can hear on this recording the ID is "EWTN Radio Católica Mundial". Does anyone has the correct information about this station? The recording is made this friday evening 0000 UTC.

For the moment I´m using my old receiver NRD 535. Still works very fine after 12 years!

*** Recording of 859.909 OCX1M Radio Nuevo Norte, Sullana (Peru)

 859.909 kHz
First recording in september is a first-time-logging for me, I have noted the interference from this split-frequency now and then and now I also have the ID.

73s Bjorn Malm

See photo from Sullana "Rio Chira" here!

859.909 OCX1M Radio Nuevo Norte, Sullana (Peru)
ID at second "18" with jingel "La radio que cruza fronteras".

QTH Info:
"Sullana is the name of the capital of the Sullana Province, in the north-western coastal plains of Peru on the Chira valley.

Sullana is located on 04°53' southern latitude and 80°41' western longitude, 38 km north of Piura, the capital of the Piura region.

Migration to Sullana has been intensive, but "pueblos jóvenes" (shanty towns) are neither widespread nor conspicuous, as they are in Piura for example. The total population in Sullana was 112,770 in 1981, 147,361 in 1993 and circa 162,500 in 2005. In Sullana more than 40% of the heads of household are unemployed or have only occasional employment.

Sullana has good bus connections to the north, to Piura in the south, as well as inland to Ayabaca and to La Tina on the Ecuadorian border. In the first week of January the Feria Internacional de los Reyes is celebrated. The Poechos reservoir 27 km from the city offers water sports like water skiing, motor-boating, fishing and swimming".
